Elderly widower injured in robbery on Stapleton Road

A 72-year-old man has been injured in a robbery on Stapleton Road in Bristol.

The elderly widower was walking along Stapleton Road, Easton, at around 5pm yesterday when he met a woman that he knew. The women then introduced him to two other men.

The victim walked with the woman to Riverside Park, where she then left him for a moment. The two men he had met earlier then approached him and threatened him with a weapon thought to be a knife.

After a struggle in which the men was assaulted the men made off with a substantial amount of money from the victim's pocket.

He was left very shaken with bruises to the legs and face.

Two men and a woman have been arrested in connection with the robbery and remain in custody.

Police would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident. The woman is described as Caucasian and in her late 30s, around 5ft 6inches tall with short blond or light brown hair.

The first man is described black, in his mid-twenties, around 5ft 8inches tall and of slim build with short black hair.

The second man is described as white, in his early 30s, about 5ft 7inches tall and of a medium build with short light brown hair.
