Waste and recycling collections will run throughout the holiday period to minimise disruption to residents and ensure the maximum amount of recycling can be collected.
"We are pleased to say it's business as usual for all our collections during the Jubilee bank holiday," said Ian James, May Gurney's Collections Operation Manager.
"Our crew are working as normal and so we are asking residents to put their bins or boxes out before 7am on their normal day of collection before. We are fully aware that some roads will be closed for parties and we will do everything we can to ensure recycling and waste in such roads, are picked up before they close."
Cabinet member for the environment and community safety Councillor Gary Hopkins, said: "If you're having a party to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee this weekend, remember to recycle what you can afterwards. Waste and recycling collections will run throughout the bank holidays on Monday and Tuesday as part of the new contract with May Gurney.
"Also for those residents catching up with gardening or DIY jobs, our popular household waste recycling centres will be open as usual from 8am until 6.45pm."
Residents are also being reminded that if there more non recyclable waste generated, that will not fit in their normal bin, they need to take it to their local household centre as extra bags will not be collected.
With summer finally here, many residents will be looking to get outside and do a spot of gardening.
The best way to deal with garden waste if you have the space is to have a home compost bin. These can be bought from local retailers, or from the council's subsidised bin scheme, which offers a 240 litre bin for �12 or a 330 litre bin for �15. Residents who don't want a home compost bin can join the council's garden waste collection scheme at any time by phoning the waste customer service team.
There is an annual cost of �32 for the collection service and a one-off charge of �21 for the 240 litre green garden waste wheelie bin, which will be delivered to you by May Gurney.
If you choose to pay for the service by direct debit, you will get an annual discount of �3.
People in receipt of certain benefits, including income support, pension credits, housing and tax credits, are entitled to 50% discount on the cost of the bin and collection service.
For people who don't regularly have garden waste, 75 litre garden waste sacks can be purchased for �1 each from customer service points or the customer service team, or bought from local retailers.
The price includes the cost of delivery and collection from the kerbside.
Residents need to book collection of the sacks when they've filled them by calling the customer service team.
